Meizu Pro 7 launch event set for later this month

It looks like Xiaomi isn’t the only manufacturer who will be taking the wraps off its latest handset on 26 July. Fellow Chinese smartphone maker Meizu will attempt to steal the limelight from Xiaomi with its upcoming flagship launch on the same date.

Meizu, whom we’ve never really heard of on a global scale, will be launching its Meizu Pro 7 flagship smartphone on the 26th of July at a press event. It will also be launched together with its Plus variant, which is rumored to feature higher end specs.

The Meizu Pro 7 is suggested to sport a 5.2-inch display at Full HD resolution while the Plus variant will go with a QHD 5.5-inch screen. Both phones are tipped to have a secondary screen, interestingly on the rear panel below the dual camera setup, unlike LG’s V series which feature a secondary ticker display above the main display. The other known smartphone with a secondary display is the Yotaphone, which has an E-Ink display covering the whole of its rear panel.

Other rumors indicate that the Meizu Pro 7 will be powered by a MediaTek Helio X30 or a Kirin 960 while the larger Meizu Pro 7 Plus is predicted to pack Samsung’s Exynos 8895 processor underneath the hood. Do however take these claims with a grain of salt as we approach the actual unveiling of the Meizu Pro 7 series.
