Meet the tiny NichePhone-S that runs Android

As the name suggests, this phone is really meant for a very niche audience, especially in a world where screen sizes in 5.5-inches are becoming the norm for smartphones, a company called FutureModel has decided to release an extremely tiny smartphone called the NichePhone-S, and mind you, it isn’t some dumb phone that can only do phone calls and run Java apps, but it is powered by Android – to be exact, Android 4.2, though extremely dated, but it is probably sufficient for what it is capable of.

The NichePhone-S is assumed to be a Japan exclusive device, since it only supports NTT Docomo’s 3G network. Despite running Android, don’t expect to install any apps with that tiny 1-inch display as it really looks like a typical feature phone, apart from being able to send texts and make phone calls, there’s Bluetooth that let’s you pair with a Bluetooth headset for music listening and making phone calls. With that said, this is a pretty lightweight device at 38g and measuring 6.5mm of thickness, which makes it a great device for those who wants a simple device.

For $95 (RM401), you would probably be better off getting a Nokia 3310, but should you be looking for a small device that runs Android, there’s a phone by the name of Jelly, it has 4G and a 2.45-inch display that costs you $125, though expensive, but it is definitely more useful than the NichePhone-S.
