Maybank to launch faster and redesigned M2U app this week

If you have been an active user of the Maybank2U app, you may have find most the current app’s experience to be a little complicated for all your on the go banking needs. Don’t give up on it just yet, as Maybank is launching a totally redesigned app with better performance and security, the app will be available for iOS and Android devices as a free download in their respective app stores starting this Thursday evening.

Maybank has given us a beta preview of its app in a media event today, the app has certainly gotten a lot nicer with bigger buttons and a neater font. For iPhone users, you will be able to log in to the app using Touch ID, saving the need to enter your username and password all the time when you login to your online banking account.

The new Maybank2U app allows you to perform most transactions that you will be able to do on your computer while on-the-go, one good thing to note is to be able to transfer funds to an open 3rd party account or pay most utility bills without actually saving as a favorite beneficiary. Also, you are able to perform Western Union payment and prepaid reloads over the app.

On top of that, we also found that the app has a promotions feature showing special offers from selected merchants, this is particularly useful if you are always on the look out for special dining and shopping deals. Otherwise, I would have to conclude that on a first impressions, the banking app has been rather reliable considering that it is still in beta at the time of testing.

At the time of testing, the app still require your password and TAC code for authorizing transactions, Maybank says that Touch ID authorization is still in the works and they expect to realize this in a future app update. If you are a frequent Maybank2U user, get ready to download the app on your smartphone soon, there’s no further registration required to use the new app.
