With all the leak that was circulating yesterday, today Maxis has officially announced a significant upgrade for MaxisONE Plans that adds 5x more data to your previous allocation, with immediate effect. For no extra charge, your data quota will be automatically and permanently upgraded as long as you are part of MaxisONE plan, Surfmore50, and MaxisONE Business plan.
So, for instance, if you are on the MOP98 plan, you will receive 5x more data than what you have right not, and if you are on a higher value plan like the MOP188, you will receive an extra 13GB in data quota every month. Maxis has also mentioned that on top of this upgrade, they will be adding another 5GB free every month for MaxisONE Plan customers, to enjoy content from popular Video-On-Demand app such as iflix, ErosNow, viu, and hopster. However, this 5GB extra for streaming services are only applicable for usage in the country, not overseas. Should your 5GB video streaming quota is exhausted, you can add more data using daily passes.
Along with this offer of an extra data upgrade, Maxis also introduced shareable DataPools, a sort-of new innovation that allows any MaxisONE customer to share data with anyone as long they are all under something like a “family account”. How it works is, you are a MaxisONE principle user of the MOP188 that comes with 20GB data. Your “subs”, for RM48 a month gets 5GB data with unlimited calls and SMS. So, let’s say you have 4 subs under the principle line. Each gets 5GB data. But instead of “passing” some of your data to your sub once they’ve exhausted their quota, all 5 of you – the 4 subs plus the principle line, share the DataPool of 40GB. This allows data to be shared most effectively.
On top of that, as part of MaxisONE World feature, the whole family (principle and subs) can use all of the MaxisONE DataPool when roaming overseas. However, should that said data pool finishes while on roaming, you can still buy mobile instant pass at RM38/day.
Maxis continues to commit to its “feel free” promise by offering unlimited voice and SMS, guarantees for zero bill shock, worry-free roaming, free basic internet, and elimination of Pay-Per-Use charges.
As for MaxisONE Business customers, similar quota upgrades will also apply. If you are an iValue customer, you can call up Maxis customer service to see if you can change to MaxisONE. As mentioned by Maxis, they are currently in the process of moving their iValue customers to MaxisONE Plan as it is more value for money.
