Instagram has seen many changes, improvements and newly added features in 2016. This year alone saw the Instagram app change its icon and added the now widely used Instagram Stories, which is Instagram’s version of Snapchat. Just a day or two ago, the latest Instagram update added the Boomerang feature, alongside mentions and links to Stories, making the media sharing social networking service a much more feature filled one compared to the Instagram we had last year.
Kevin Systrom, the CEO of Instagram has stated that the live video feature will be coming soon to the app, according to a report by The Financial Times. Systrom also mentioned that the future rollout of the live video feature was fueled by the overnight success of Instagram Stories when it was first introduced a couple of months back. The live video feature would mean that Instagram will be following platforms such as YouTube, Facebook and Snapchat, all of which have live streaming capabilities.
Live video streaming on the Facebook owned Instagram app has been appearing recently on its beta versions, but no one was able to confirm whether or not the feature would be arriving to the app in the future. Now that Systrom has made the statement, we hope that Instagram will have live videos coming our way as soon as we can anticipate. What do you think?
