LG launches the V34, a smaller and water resistant version of the V20

With the death of the Galaxy Note 7, phablets from various smartphone manufacturers are looking to take the 2016 phablet throne. Many have named the LG V20 as the next in line after the short lived Samsung Galaxy Note 7. However, not everyone wants a large screen phone, but what if we told you that there’s a smaller version of the 5.7-inch handset?

LG has launched the V34 in Japan, which is the V20 in a more compact form factor. The V34 sports a smaller 5.2-inch display, retaining the QHD resolution from the V20. It also has a secondary display on top of the primary display, as seen on the V20. There happens to be no changes underneath the hood as well. The V34 features the same Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage with a micro SD card slot supporting up to 256GB of extra storage.

The V34 has the same dual 16MP rear camera configuration as the V20, along with a 5MP selfie camera. The Bang & Olufsen branding is still seen on the back cover of the V34, as was seen on the V20. The former packs the same battery as the latter at 3,000 mAh, in which we might see longer battery life since it sports a smaller display. The other key difference is the V34 has an IP67 rating of water and dust resistance, giving it yet another edge over the V20.

Unfortunately though, the LG V34 might remain as a Japan exclusive, but we do hope that we’ll see the smaller V20 being made available outside the country. What do you think?
