Ever since Lenovo bought Motorola, it was only a matter of time till the Motorola brand gets consumed by Lenovo. Well, wait no longer as Lenovo will be phasing out the Motorola brand slowly.

According to Motorola’s chief operating officer Rick Osterloh, future Motorola phones will be known as Lenovo phones while sporting the “Moto” nickname as well as the iconic “M” logo. This means that current Motorola products such as the Moto 360 may be changing their name.

While the Motorola brand will be phased out, the Motorola name will still live on from a corporate perspective as a division of Lenovo. For the Motorola team, Osterloh and his business group will soon take over all mobile operations at Lenovo. Lenovo’s strategy with future Moto phones is to introduce them as an upscale product, meaning that phones with the “Moto” moniker will be viewed as the premium offering.
