While competition is going strong for the Chinese smartphone market here in Malaysia, Lenovo isn’t resting its laurels and has launched three A-Series and S-Series smartphone models. These new smartphones include new software features which includes Lenovo’s range of DOit apps.

Lenovo A526

The successor to the A516 which we’ve recently reviewed, the A526 has a new MediaTek MT6582M 1.3GHZ Quad-core processor paired with 1GB RAM. The rest of the internals remains the same as the A516 such as a 5MP main camera, 4GB ROM and a2000mAh battery. The A526 will be available for purchase in mid-May.

Lenovo A680

Similar specifications to the A526, it has the same processor, RAM, battery size and main camera, however the A680 has a slightly larger screen at 5-inches with a FWVGA resolution. The A680 is available now and priced at RM499.

Lenovo A859

The successor to the A850 which we’ve reviewed recently. While maintaining the same MediaTek MTK6582M 1.3GHz quad-core processor and 1GB of RAM, the A859 has an upgraded display from qHD (960×540) to 720p resolution. Battery remains the same at 2250mAh and the camera is pretty much the same at 8MP but the front camera has been upgraded to a 1.6MP fixed focus sensor, the phone is available now at RM719.

Lenovo S650

The S650 features a Mediatek MT6582M 1.3GHz quad core processor and has a 4.7-inch qHD display, the phone also features a 8MP main camera and is available for purchase at a price of RM699.

Lenovo S660

Now, the S660 here looks much more interesting, with a metallic like backplate and a much more better design that the models above. This phone has a 3000mAh battery which is able to offer superior all day battery life. As usual, the phone runs on the same MediaTek processor. The phone is available now at RM749.

Lenovo S860

The S860 has the same MediaTek processor as mentioned above, there’s however a slight bump on RAM and internal storage at 2GB and 16GB respectively. The S860 has a 5.3-inch 720p display with 5-point multitouch, 8MP autofocus camera and 1.6MP front camera. Battery size is a whooping 4000mAh, which will give users a talk time of up to 24 hours on 3G. The S860 is available now at RM1169.

Similar processor and software, different display sizes and chassis

The release may seemed boring, but we love one thing for sure on these phones, is that they are no longer equipped with a mere 512MB RAM and this could be good news for entry level phone buyers. However, do expect these phones to be stuck at Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with no further updates to Android KitKat. Judging by the price tag, you’d pretty be off with some other brands as well, you know them.
