The last iPad mini that was released by Apple is the iPad mini 4 that was announced back in 2015. Since then, there has been no significant news about the next iPad mini until recently when pictures of a leaked case that is said to be made for the iPad mini 5 surfaced on the Internet.

With the case leak, many are expecting the iPad mini 5 to be true and to arrive in early 2019. In addition, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also had the prediction in which he expected the phone to come at late 2018 or early 2019. Seeing as 2018 is about to end, it is only reasonable to believe that if the iPad mini 5 is to be launched, it will be in 2019.

The device is also expected be under mass production before this year ends, which means that Apple could already be producing the device to prepare for its launch next year, but the company has yet to announce anything, so let’s not get our hopes up. Kuo also predicted that the iPad mini 5 might come with a cheaper and lower-resolution display panel, unlike the iPad Pro’s Liquid Retina display.

Based on the pictures of the leaked case, it seems like the iPad mini 5 will still have a headphone jack, which also caused assumptions that the device will probably retain its Lightning port. The case also show four cutouts, two at the bottom and two on top, which indicates that the device might be coming with 4 speakers like the iPad Pro. That aside, the cutout for the camera is slightly elongated, and rumour has it that the iPad mini 5 might come with a LED flash hence the design.

The iPad mini 4 comes in 128GB storage and since it’s from 2015, it still has the Touch ID, thick bezels and a headphone jack. Hopefully, the iPad mini 5 will get a more significant upgrade and can escape from the older design and maybe get the Face ID and thinner bezels for bigger display. There should also be more storage options, but 128GB would be the one to go for for normal users, so even if Apple opts out of offering more options, we’re not complaining.
