After a long silence and information kept under lock and key, we have information on the upcoming flagship processor from Huawei, the Kirin 980. Based on what we see, it looks like the Snapdragon 845 might be shaking its pins in fear.
This information comes from China, which states that the new Kirin processor comes with a clock speed of 2.8GHz and four Cortex-A77 cores and four Cortex-A55 for reliability. The chip has been confirmed to be built on the 7nm FinFET process and comes with AI chip technology which will make the NPU faster and allows it to perform 5 trillion calculations per watt. HiSilicon, who is making the chips has claimed that the Kirin 980 will be 1.5 times faster than the Adreno 630 which is currently being used by the Snapdragon 845 processor.
