iPhone SE officially in Malaysia from May 11 onwards

Just two weeks after the announcement of the iPhone SE, Apple has announced its local availability in Malaysia — set on May 11.

iPhone SE Specs

The iPhone SE is the successor to the previous generation that was launched in 2016. It has the same processor as the iPhone 11 models so in terms of CPU performance, it can perform up to 2.4x faster. You’ll also be getting faster Wi-Fi speeds, an IP67 rating and dual-SIM support.

The iPhone SE will be bigger than the previous model, sporting a 4.7-inch Retina HD display. It’ll feature the same 12MP wide lens as seen on the flagship iPhones last year and also has Portrait Lighting and Smart HDR. You’ll also get 18W fast charging and some of the familiar features like its home button and Touch ID. It will be available in three configurations — 64GB, 128GB and 256GB.

What the iPhone SE lacks

What the iPhone SE doesn’t have is Face ID, it loses the 3D Touch that was last seen on the iPhone 8 and it doesn’t even support Haptic Touch on the lock screen. It also lacks the other lenses like the ultra-wide camera and the telephoto lens in iPhone 11 Pro Max. You’ll also be missing out on the newer, updated design since the iPhone SE looks exactly like the iPhone 8 on the front.

Pricing and Availability

The iPhone SE comes in three colours and starts at RM1,999. It will be available on Apple’s official site and the Apple Store app from May 11, but you can also get it from Apple Authorised Resellers and select carriers.
