WhatsApp continuously brings more features to their users, and this includes the introduction of Touch ID and Face ID support.

According to WABetaInfo, the Touch ID support feature is already under development and is still in a high alpha stage, which means it’ll be long before we get to try out this feature. When it is finally available though, users will see the option to enable their Touch IDs by going to Settings tab, then clicking on Account followed by Privacy.

As mentioned, there is also the Face ID support if the user’s device supports it and users will also be able to use passcode unlock when the Face ID or Touch ID are not working, just like how it works with users’ iPhones.

With the new feature enabled, users will need to enter their passcodes or use their Touch IDs or Face IDs to open WhatsApp. Despite that, the data will not be stored by WhatsApp because the authentication will still be under iOS. WABetaInfo also revealed that the feature is already a success but due to the slow response time, the feature will be undergoing some improvements to better the feature.

Apparently, the feature will also be available in WhatsApp Business for iOS which will be showing up in the future. There are still no news as to whether the Android devices will get the app authentication feature, though Android users can definitely expect the feature to come to Android devices because all WhatsApp’s features have been available to both iOS and Android devices from the very beginning.
