Intel has introduced its Intel Core Ultra 200S series processor family, designed to elevate AI capabilities on desktop platforms and usher in the era of AI-powered enthusiast desktop PCs.

At the forefront of this launch is the Intel Core Ultra 9 processor 285K, leading a line-up of five unlocked desktop processors. These feature up to eight next-generation Performance-cores (P-cores) and 16 next-generation Efficient-cores (E-cores), offering up to 14% more performance in multi-threaded workloads compared to previous generations. The series also marks Intel’s first NPU-enabled desktop processors, equipped with a built-in Xe GPU providing cutting-edge media support.

The new chip delivers a major reduction in power consumption, with up to 58% lower package power in everyday applications and up to 165W lower system power during gaming. Users will also see performance gains, with up to 6% faster single-threaded and 14% faster multi-threaded performance.

The Core Ultra 200S series is optimized for content creators and gamers, delivering up to 50% faster performance in AI-enabled creative applications compared to rival processors. By integrating CPU, GPU, and NPU, the new processors can handle complex AI workloads while offloading tasks from discrete GPUs, resulting in improved gaming frame rates and power efficiency.

Intel is also enabling new AI use cases, such as face- and gesture-tracking in games, without compromising performance, creating a more immersive and intelligent gaming experience.

The Intel Core Ultra 200S series offers more than AI advancements. It provides a 28% uplift in gaming performance compared to competing flagship processors, supports overclocking with fine-grain control, and enables higher memory capacities with new DDR5 compatibility. The accompanying Intel 800 Series chipset enhances connectivity with PCIe 4.0, Thunderbolt 4, and Wi-Fi 6E.

The Intel Core Ultra 200S series processors will be available for purchase starting October 24, 2024, through online retailers, in stores, and via OEM partner systems.
