Intel isn’t resting its laurels to let AMD take over the competition, as it has unveiled its 9th Gen Core processors a few hours ago that will compete directly with AMD’s Ryzen processors.
The new processors’ codename is merely called Coffee Lake R and is still based on the 14nm++ process that was introduced with last year’s chip. The 9th Gen processors will be made available in Core i5, Core i7 and Core i9 variants, which Intel claims that the 9th Gen Core i9 is ‘The best gaming processor in the world. Period.’
Intel has further claimed that these new processors are the first desktop processors to have hardware fixes for the Meltdown Variant 3 and L1 Terminal Fault issues, which has been present on Kaby Lake and Coffee Lake processors, with other protections done through software efforts.
Preorders for Intel’s 9th Gen Core processors begin today in the US, and they will ship on October 19th. The Core i9-9900K will retail at $488 (RM2,028), i7-9700K at $373 (RM1550) and i5-9600K at $262 (RM1089). We also expect the chips to arrive in the Malaysian market very soon.
