Instagram will soon release a video and voice calling feature for Direct

Instagram is yet again taking another feature out of Snapchat’s playbook. TechCrunch took apart the app for the Android version and found some interesting icons that could indicate a calling feature will be implemented soon.

These icons don’t only tell us that a voice call will be possible, but a video call as well as you can see from the icons below.

TechCrunch also speculates that this feature will be implemented in Instagram’s Direct messaging app, as they have been hard at work improving and adding features to their messaging app. We have heard that the company is working on a feature like this but they were quiet about it and was probably doing an internal test before releasing it to the public.

There is no release date on when this feature will become available but seeing as the icons are already in the official release of the app, it looks like Instagram would just need a push an update to activate the feature and we should be able to start using it.
