A couple of months back, Instagram launched Live Stories, which allows users to live stream from the app itself. The new feature arrived after Instagram started having Stories, which was a direct copy of Snapchat. Live Stories on the other hand, was inspired by Facebook’s Live Videos. However, the Live Stories feature only happened to roll out to users at certain regions – the United States for example. As of these couple of days, Instagram Live Stories has finally being pushed out globally.
To recap, it is pretty simple to start a live stream from the Instagram app. Users will only have to swipe right to the app’s camera, and select “Start Live Video”, and you’re good to go. Users can also check out other videos at “Top Live” in the “Explore” section of the app. If you happen to not have gotten the new feature, just make sure that you have updated your Instagram app to its latest version. The latest version on the Play Store is version 10.5.1 so do keep an eye out for that.
Live broadcasting seems to be the future as many social media platforms have been scrambling to get their own take on live streaming running on their own social spaces. It is also a good tool for celebrities and businesses to reach out to their audiences in a more “intimate” manner, if you get the gist of it. Have you tried Instagram Live Stories?
