Images of the MacBook Pro's OLED touch panel found in macOS Sierra 10.12.1

Apple’s new MacBook Pros have been the subject of numerous speculations, with the key new feature being an OLED touch panel that will be replacing the function keys. While images of this particular panel have mostly been artist renditions up until now, Apple has accidentally leaked images of this touch panel in macOS Sierra 10.12.1.

The images found in Sierra pretty much confirms everything that has been said about the OLED touch panel. The panel will indeed be replacing the function keys, and it appears that the touch panel is contextual, with the panel changing according to what’s showing on the screen. Rumours of the touch panel supporting Touch ID has also been confirmed, as the image shows someone authenticating an Apple Pay transaction by touching on the panel.

Besides the inclusion of the touch panel, the overall design of the new MacBook Pro doesn’t seem all that different. Due to the angle of the pictures found in Sierra, other rumours, such as the removal of certain ports, cannot be verified. Seeing as the Apple event is scheduled for Friday morning local time, we won’t need to wait long for Apple to officially announce the laptop.
