Huawei sits at 5th place in the tablet market

Tablet sales took quite a plunge in Q4 2016, suggesting lesser demand for tablet devices during last year’s holiday season. Tablet shipments declined by a staggering 20.1 percent when compared to Q4 2015, contributing to the overall decrease in shipments by 15.6 percent coming from 2015. Despite the decline, Chinese manufacturer Huawei still managed to clinch 5th place in terms of last year’s tablet shipments.

Huawei has already begun penetrating the Western market when it comes to its mobile devices. Its 5th place standing among other tablet vendors is definitely an impressive feat, given the fact that Huawei tablets have barely any presence in the Western market. The company however, managed to excel at other regions such as Asia, the Middle East and Europe. In fact, Huawei has managed to sell 43.5 percent more tablets in Q4 2016 compared to Q4 2015.

Lenovo has also scored gains in last year compared to the previous year in terms of tablet shipments, sitting at 4th place. The hot selling Fire tablets by Amazon allowed the company to clinch 3rd place, despite a decline in tablet sales. Both Apple and Samsung managed to retain first and second place respectively in tablet shipments, with both manufacturing giants recording declines in Q4 2016 as well. What do you think will happen to the future of tablets?
