Its here, the most anticipated smartphones from Huawei has finally reached the Malaysian shores, the Huawei P8 and P8 Lite are a pair of premium flagships and comes packed with powerful cameras, the P8 and P8 Lite retails at the price of RM1799 and RM899 respectively, customers can head on over to Pavilion KL this week to check out the company’s roadshow and stand a chance to win great prizes in a lucky draw.
The P8 sports a modern sleek looking design which isn’t too different from its predecessor, its chamfered edges are beautifully polished with a metal frame and despite having a full metal body, the phone weighs in at 144g and measures a mere 6.4mm thin body. In technical aspects, the Huawei P8 has a 5.2-inch Full HD display and is powered by the company’s all new Hisilicon Kirin 930 8-core 64-bit processor clocked at 2GHz, the phone has 3GB RAM, 16GB built-in flash with option to expand via the phone’s second SIM slot, a 13-megapixel f/2.0 main camera with OIS and a RBGW (Red, Blue, Green, White) sensor, 8-megapixel front facing camera and is powered by a 2680mAh battery.
On wireless and cellular connectivity, Huawei has added a signal booster on the top and bottom of the phone that aims to reduce drop calls and consistent network connection to WiFi networks.
The P8 runs Huawei’s customized EMUI 3.1 software based on Android 5.0 Lollipop, what the company truly wants to promote on the phone this time isn’t the phone’s performance but rather the imaging tech on the phone’s camera, in which the comapany has fitted a DSLR-level ISP and mentions that the RGBW sensor could actually take beautiful night shots with lesser noise and more accurate colors.
One of the most hyped feature of the phone – Light Painting, allows users to capture light trails on busy roads, art, glittering galaxies and water flows, when used longer we could actually conclude that it is a pretty cool software trick that captures every frame of a detected light source and allows you to create an art in the picture while maintaining sharp focus in the background. The phone camera’s optical image stabilization also endures a 1.2 degree shake to ensure those shaky hand of yours takes clear pictures in challenging conditions.
On the other hand, the P8 Lite is also a very decent performer despite having a stepped down specs sheet from its flagship brother, it has a smaller 5-inch HD (1280 x 720) resolution display and thicker at 7.7mm. The phone is powered by a lower clocked Hisilicon Kirin 620 Octa-Core 1.2GHz processor paired with 2GB RAM, its main camera omits OIS while the front camera gets lowered down to 5-megapixel, it also comes with dual SIM capabilities with the ability to convert the second SIM slot to a MicroSD slot and it will support LTE networks.
Apart from these two new exciting smartphones, Huawei has also brought in its second generation Talkband B2 wearable introduced back in Mobile World Congress 2015, the Talkband B2 features a premium aluminum and glass material chassis and it can be ejected from the strap to be used as a Bluetooth headset. Instead of using an OLED display, the Talkband B2 now utilizes a 0.73-inch PMOLED touch screen and has 4GB of built-in storage that stores music, Huawei has rated 5 days of working time and 6 hours of talk time, all thanks to the power efficient Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity and as a fitness tracker, the wearable is IP57-certified water and dust resistant. The Talkband B2 is available in two variants – Classic and Elite and will be available at Vmall.my at RM558 and RM668 respectively, the Elite variant is literally the gold color model of the wearable.
