Huawei P50 series to launch in Malaysia on 12 January

After two weeks since its debut in its native country, the Huawei P50 Pocket along with the P50 Pro is finally coming to Malaysia. The local launch will take place next Wednesday, on 12 January.

Official sales will probably happen very soon as the P50 Pro and P50 Pocket are already listed on Huawei Malaysia’s Shopee and Lazada stores. Unfortunately, the local pricing has not been revealed yet but we’ll provide the prices in Chinese Yuan as an estimation.

Huawei P50 Pro:

  • 8GB+256GB: CNY 6,488 (~RM4268)

Huawei P50 Pocket:

  • Normal Edition (White) – 8GB+256GB: CNY 8,988 (~RM5914)
  • Premium Edition (Gold) – 12GB+512GB: CNY 10,988 (~RM7230)

The P50 Pro is available in Golden Black or Cocoa Gold whereas the P50 Pocket is available in White (Normal Edition) or Gold (Premium Edition).

Huawei P50 Pro

The Huawei P50 Pro has a 6.6-inch AMOLED display with up to 120Hz refresh rate, and 300Hz touch sampling rate. It’s powered by a Snapdragon 888 4G SoC and an Adreno 660 GPU that’s paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

The quad camera setup consists of a 50MP and 40MP True Chroma Camera, a 13MP ultrawide camera, and a 64MP telephoto camera. For the selfies, you get a 13MP punch-hole camera.

Other that that, it has an IP68 rating and packs a 4,360mAh battery that supports 66W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging.

Huawei P50 Pocket

The Huawei P50 Pocket unfolds to show a 6.9-inch FHD+ OLED display with up to 120Hz refresh rate; The secondary display measures at 1.04-inches and can act as a preview screen when taking pictures or to display notifications.

Under the hood, you have the same Snapdragon 888 4G SoC paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage for the Normal Edition and 12GB RAM and 512GB internal storage for the Premium Edition.

For imaging, you get a 40MP True Chroma Camera, a 13MP ultrawide camera, and a 32MP Ultra Spectrum Camera. For the selfies, you get a 10.7MP front camera. The phone also packs a 4,000mAh battery with support for 40W fast charging.
