Leaks have surfaced online regarding the HUAWEI P50 series that’s launching in a few month’s time — the flagship phones are expected to feature some interesting upgrades, including 200x zoom.

HUAWEI brings 200x zoom to the P50 series
The P50 series also has similar camera specs to the Mate 40 series; HUAWEI continues to use Leica lenses, but the zoom capabilities have been expanded up to 200x zoom this time.
There’s a chance to experience 135W fast charging
Under the hood, the HUAWEI P50 models are either powered by a Kirin 9000 or Kirin 9000e chip. The fast charging is slightly better than the P40 series — the leak suggests that the phones will come with 66W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. HUAWEI may include 135W fast charging, but it is yet to be finalised.
Global versions may still run on Android
Despite HUAWEI’s announcement last year that HarmonyOS will be available for HUAWEI’s phones in 2021, it seems that the P50 series will still be running on EMUI 11 which is based on Android OS. GizChina reported the possibility of two versions — the China variants will run on HarmonyOS whereas the global variant will be available in both Android and HarmonyOS versions.
If HUAWEI follows last year’s timing, then we should be able to check out these phones sometime in late March or early April.
