With the delays to the launch of foldable smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy Fold and the Huawei Mate X, what was once hyped to the moon and back is now starting to stale – and we still have yet to see these two devices officially launched.
That isn’t stopping Huawei from conceptualizing the successor to the Mate X though – especially considering they’re still dealing with the whole trade war kerfuffle. Simply dubbed the Huawei Mate X 2, the phone will apparently come with a stylus – now that you think of it, it’s weird that the first generation doesn’t come with styluses.
The patents were spotted online and GSM Arena reports that they were filed with, wait for it, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) – ironic, considering the whole trade…you get my point.
Based on the sketches, it looks like the smartphone itself will not look radically different, it’ll just have a flat stylus slotted neatly in its housing.
GSM Arena also reports that the new iteration of Huawei’s foldable could come with a thinner battery and camera setup. Well, in any other circumstance, we’d be super stoked for this – but with the current gen of foldable smartphones thrown in the backlog and Huawei being side-lined by America (the Government mostly), we’ll be cautiously optimistic for the time being.
