Huawei Mate S comes with Force Touch

Huawei is aiming high to topple both Apple and Samsung to be the top of the smartphone market, and we can see that in Huawei’s latest device revealed during IFA 2015 – the Huawei Mate S. The biggest surprise is not the phone itself, but the announcement that the new Huawei Mate S will come with Force Touch technology, just as Apple is expected to introduce its new iPhone models with the same technology sometime next week.

The Mate S sports a 5.5-inch 1080×1920 pixel display, and its Force Touch display can distinguish between light tap and deep press to enable more functions in a the phone with much less clutter. There is also a fingerprint scanner on the rear panel and a 13MP rear camera, while the front camera is 8MP.

On the inside, the Huawei Mate S is powered by an octa-core Kirin 935 SoC, with 3GB RAM and 32GB on-board storage – upgradable in the Premium option. It runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with Emotion UI layered over it, and powered by a 2700mAh battery.

The Huawei Mate S now has a sleeker design, sporting a diamond cut metal unibody and 2.5D Gorilla Glass with curved edges. It comes in four colours – gold, grey, silver and a new pink colour option.

This phone will be available for pre-order from 15 September 2015 from Huawei’s Vmall online marketplace, with the price of €649 for the Standard version of 32GB storage and 3GB RAM, while the Premium version packed with 64GB storage and 3GB RAM will be priced at €699. Huawei did mention that there will be a 128GB version later but did not specify when.
