Huawei Malaysia launches the honor 8 and honor 5A

Huawei has been fast enough to bring its latest honor flagship into the Malaysian market shortly after its US release, the honor 8 is the most beautiful and premium honor smartphone ever produced by the company, it sports a polished aluminium body construction complete with 2.5D curved glass on both sides of the device, the phone’s glass back is manufactured with 15 layers of glass, dubbed as the Aurora Glass, it produces an artistic reflection when exposed to light sources and it is one of the most attractive smartphone designs we have seen this year.

In terms of processing power, the honor 8 is no slouch as a successor to the honor 7, it sports a high performance and efficient Kirin 950 processor mated to 4GB of RAM, the phone has storage options of 32GB and 64GB and it is expandable with a MicroSD card up to 128GB, it has a 5.2-inch LTPS display with a Full HD resolution, a 3000mAh battery with support for quick charging and supports Dual SIM.

Huawei has also brought the expertise of its dual lens camera to the honor 8, it lacks the P9’s Leica certification however the specs of the camera remains the same, it is a 12-megapixel f/2.2 shooter that combines both RGB and Monochrome colors to produce better contrast and dynamic range in photos. In this case, Huawei has also removed the monochrome shooting mode found on the P9. The honor 8’s selfie shooter is still the decent 8-megapixel sensor found back on is predecessor, its LED flash however, is replaced by a screen flash like many other recent smartphones.

In addition, the honor 8 has embedded the ‘Smart Key’ on to the phone’s extremely fast fingerprint scanner, a physical button that will allow you to run apps and shortcuts when configured in the phone’s settings, which is actually an ingenious way of giving the phone a minimalist design approach and it makes a lot of sense as well. The fingerprint scanner can still be used for other purposes as well, such as swiping down the notifications shade and browsing photos.

Huawei has also made a quick brief introduction of the honor 5A today in the launch event, a device that will replace the Honor 4X, this entry-level device is still filled with pretty decent hardware, such as a Kirin 620 Octa Core processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of flash memory with MicroSD expansion, a 5.5-inch HD display, a 13-megapixel main and 8-megapixel front camera, a 3100mAh battery and single SIM LTE support. The phone is available in Black and White colors, priced at RM599, while the gold color model is priced at RM629, look out for the phone on 20th September onwards.
