Huawei launches a slew of products today

Huawei has got a big day as it has unveiled the new MateBook X Pro, Huawei Sound X Smart Speaker, Huawei Y6p and Y5p entry-level phones, MatePad and MatePad T tablets.

Huawei MateBook X Pro – New 10th Gen Intel Comet Lake processor in the same lighweight form factor

The MateBook X Pro is Huawei’s top of the line premium laptop that features a 13.9-inch touch display with a 3K resolution, its stunningly slim bezels gives it a 91% screen-to-body ratio which makes it one of the best looking laptop displays in the premium segment.

Weighing at 1.33kg, the MateBook X Pro is powered by a Intel Core i7-10510U quad core processor, 16GB of LPDDR3-2133MHz RAM, NVIDIA GeForce MX250 graphics and 1TB of storage, users should see a significant performance bump over its predecessor and can expect to do medium weight creative tasks on it.

Apart from that, the laptop also packs quad speakers in its slim 14.6mm chassis for an even more immersive experience, it also has four microphones to pick up sound from as far as four metres.

Available in colors of Space Grey and Emerald Green, with the latter option coming soon in limited quantities, the MateBook X Pro retails at RM7,999.

Huawei Sound X – 360-degree Bluetooh speaker co-engineered with Devialet

Announced during alongside the Huawei P40 series, the Huawei Sound X is a 360-degree Bluetooth speaker that competes directly with offerings from Bose and other smart speakers, though sadly it doesn’t come with any built-in voice assistants.

The Sound X is co-engineered with audio company Devialet, which features the latter’s patented signal-processing Speaker Active Matching technology. With a total of six speakers and two 40Hz frequency subwoofers, users can expect extreme clarity and thumping bass in a 360-degree direction.

Users can easily connect to the Huawei Sound X with the OneHop Audio Sharing feature, where they will only need to tap their Android phones on it to start enjoying music and moveis with bigger sound.

The Sound X retails at RM1,299 and will be available on May 16th. Customers who purchased the MateBook X Pro will receive a free unit when they place an order during this period.

Huawei MatePad and MatePad T – Android tablets with great value

At RM1399, the Huawei MatePad is probably the best value hardware tablet that we have ever seen as it comes with a 10.4-inch 2K resolution display, quad speakers tuned by Harman Kardon, support for M-Pencil, and a 7260mAh battery.

Though unlike the MatePad Pro, it is powered by a modest Kirin 810 chipset supported by 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage, however you will be glad to know that it supports 4G LTE connectivity so that you can stay connected wherever you are.

On the other hand, the 8-inch MatePad T brings valuable features to the budget conscious audience with a RM559 price tag, while offering a slim bezel display that has a 80% screen-to-body ratio and weighs just 310g. The MatePad T is powered by an octa-core processor supported by 2GB RAM and 32GB of storage, while a 5100mAh battery ensures that you will get more than a full day of usage.

These tablets ship with EMUI 10.1 based on Android 10 and will not come with Google Mobile Services preinstalled.

Huawei Y6p and Y5p – Affordable Android 10 entry-level phones

Huawei continues to offer great value for its entry-level devices with the Huawei Y6p, a 6.3-inch device that comes with a huge 5000mAh battery. The Huawei Y6p is powered by a Mediatek Helio P35 chipset supported by 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, it features a triple camera setup that comprises of a 13MP main, 5MP ultrawide and 2MP depth lens, an 8MP selfie camera is also present that aims to capture clear photos.

As for the Huawei Y5p, it features a 5.45-inch HD+ display and is powered by a Mediatek Helio P22 chipset supported by 2GB RAM and 32GB storage, it has a single 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera, while a 3020mAh battery ensures a full day of use.

The Huawei Y6p and Y5p retails at RM559 and RM359 respectively, while the good news is they will both come preloaded with Android 10 software, they unfortunately don’t have Google Mobile Services preinstalled.

All new Huawei products will be available nationwide starting 16th May onwards.
