Huawei collaborates with KDU University College to create Malaysian-inspired wallpaper themes

Huawei users are now able to download new Malaysian-inspired wallpaper such as Nasi Lemak or the Petronas Twin Towers on their smartphones as Huawei Themes has recently collaborated with KDU University College for “Love Our Malaysia Themes Design” workshop and contest.

Students from the Bachelor of Game Development at KDU University had the opportunity to test their skills in developing smartphone wallpaper themes, and the results was more than impressive as the passionate students and designers were able to capture the beauty of Malaysia in unique ways and applied it to their work. The winners were selected by Famous local illustrator and digital artist, Chong Fei Giap.

“It is hard to believe that the mobile phone themes are students’ artwork and I’m very impressed by their designs! The themes and wallpapers captured the beauty of Malaysia very well, with each of them showcasing the different elements of Malaysia. It is important for brands like Huawei to recognize and develop the local art design scene as we have potential to deliver amazing works,” said Chong.

The winners of the “Love Our Malaysia Themes Design” were Tee Kim Thiam and Yiing Yng as they showcased their designs respectfully named “The Borneon”, which was inspired by the amazing Borneo and nostalgic memory of childhood toys and snacks most Malaysians grew up with.

The Love Our Malaysia Themes Designs are now available for download. To download the Malaysian themes and wallpapers by the students of KDU University College, Huawei smartphone users could search it on Huawei Themes.
