HUAWEI announces its new midranger, the HUAWEI Maimang 8

Looks like HUAWEI has no plans of slowing down despite its recent situation with Google and everything else. The Chinese company has just revealed a new midrange device — HUAWEI Maimang 8.

Design-wise, the Maimang 8 resembles the P Smart+ 2019 with a 6.21-inch IPS display with FHD+ resolution and a waterdrop notch. On its back, a triple camera setup is spotted alongside a fingerprint sensor.

Under the hood, the Maimang 8 is powered by a Kirin 710 processor in addition to sporting 6GB RAM and 64GB storage that is expandable via microSD slot. It is expected to ship with EMUI 9 based on Android 9, and will be housing a 3,400mAh battery.

The back will hold a 24MP main camera, a 16MP ultra wide sensor and also a 2MP depth camera. On the front, the Maimang 8 will come with a 8MP camera.

Honestly speaking, the Maimang 8 is almost a replica of the P Smart+ 2019 — it just sports a higher RAM configuration. The new midrange will come in Midnight Black and Sapphire Blue with a starting price of CNY1,899. The preorders have already begun but it’s official release is happening on June 12.
