HTC’s new blockchain phone can only be bought with cryptocurrency

Rather than following the trend of making phones with notch and multiple cameras, HTC has taken a rather unusual route of unveiling the Exodus 1, also known as the world’s first blockchain phone, what it does is it allows you to store cryptocurrency keys in a secure area that’s hidden away from Android, so you can simply call it a phone with a cryptocurrency wallet.

In terms of security, HTC has made a social key recovery key mechanism that can be shared with your trusted friends, so just in case you lost your phone, they will be the ones that will be able to help retrieve your recovery details. The Exodus 1 comes with flagship specs – a Snapdragon 845, 6GB RAM, 128GB storage, 3500mAh battery and IP68 water resistance comes on it, it will unfortunately still run Android Oreo when it ships, but users who buy this probably won’t care too much about OS updates anyway.

The HTC Exodus 1 is now available for preorder in over 34 countries, and as you may have probably guessed it, you will need to buy it in using your precious Bitcoin and Etherum currencies, which HTC is charging BTC 0.15 (RM3980.49) or ETH 4.78 (RM3946.52), a pretty hefty price to ask for and an amount that would currently take your mining systems a long time to generate.
