HTC will be investing USD 100 million in VR startups through its Vive X program

With the Vive officially available, HTC is looking to accelerate virtual reality development. To that end, HTC is launching Vive X, a global accelerator program targeted at start-ups operating in the VR space.

Designed to help cultivate, foster and grow the global VR ecosystem, the Vive X program will see HTC investing a total of USD 100 million into various start-ups to ultimately build them into valuable content producers or content enablers for the Vive platform. The Vive X program would give start-ups access to funding, leading VR know-hows, hands-on coaching, and office space. The start-ups will also be invited to demo days, where investors will be in attendance, and to HTC’s offices for intensive training with first-party development studios as well as meeting the key members of Vive’s engineering and management team.

The Vive X program will pilot in Beijing next month, and selected start-ups from around Asia will be invited to apply for the program, with the goal of enabling those companies to grow with the Vive platform. After Beijing, the Vive X program will roll out to Taipei and San Francisco, with other global hubs being rolled out in the near future.
