HP’s new 45-inch ultrawide monitor will make your computer recognize as two displays

With hybrid working being an ongoing trend today, HP has introduced a series of productivity devices and one of the more interesting ones is the HP E45c G5 monitor, which the company claims it to be the world’s first 45-inch ultrawide dual QHD curved monitor.

As a matter of fact, the HP E45c G5 is aimed to help reduce complex multi monitor setups and offers the screen estate of two 24-inch QHD monitors in one single device, but it also includes a really smart split screen software trick that allows programs to operate independently on one side of the display.

By enabling the split screen control, your computer basically recognizes the display as two individual inputs which allows you to do different things such as a Zoom video call in full screen on one side and web browser on the other side.  Most interestingly, you can stack up another similar monitor to make it an even more productive multi-screen experience, which you no longer need to use four monitors if you desire a quad-screen setup.

In terms of specs, the HP E45c G5 features a resolution of 5120×1440 with a 1500R curvature, it has a reasonable 3ms GtG response time, 400 nits of brightness, 99% of sRGB color gamut and has AMD FreeSync support.

As for inputs, there’s two USB-C ports that offer up to 65W USB PD charging and DisplayPort 1.4 support, one HDMI 2.1 port, one DisplayPort 1.4, for USB-A ports and 1 RJ-45 port.

While this monitor is part of HP’s newly announced E-Series G5 monitors in CES 2023 which is set to go on sale this month, the HP E45c G5 still doesn’t have a release date let alone pricing at this time of writing.
