Honor 70 launches in Malaysia for RM1,999

The Honor 70 has officially launched in Malaysia, it succeeds the Honor 50 that was unveiled after its break up from parent company Huawei last year and comes with several notable upgrades, especially in the imaging department where Honor has significantly upgraded the camera system, while it is commendable that Honor Malaysia has maintained the same retail price at RM1,999.

In terms of performance, the Honor 70 is powered by the Snapdragon 778G+ processor along with 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage, the phone’s processor has been commonly found on recent devices such as the Nothing phone (1), which offers a marginal performance improvement over the Snapdragon 778G that was present on the Honor 50.

The phone’s display is slightly larger than its predecessor at 6.67-inches and refreshes at 120Hz with over 1.07 billion color support and has the 1920Hz PWM Dimming technology from the flagship Magic 4 Pro, battery life has also been  bumped to 4800mAh from 4300mAh previously and supports Honor’s 66W fast charging, though sadly the phone isn’t IP68 rated against water and dust.

Camera wise, the Honor 70 may only come with a triple camera as opposed to four cameras on the Honor 50, the main and ultrawide sensors are a step above its predecessor, the main camera is a 54MP Sony IMX800 sensor which delivers better low light shots with better brightness and detail, while the ultrawide is a 50MP sensor that captures up to a 122-degree wide angle and serves as a macro as well, the third camera however is a paltry 2MP depth sensor for portrait shots.

The Honor 70 ships with Magic UI 6.1 running on top of Android 12, it is Google Mobile Services certified which you get full access to Google services, available in color options of Crystal Silver, Emerald Green and Midnight Black, preorders have begun today and customers will receive free gifts up to RM597, which includes an Honor Earbuds 2 Lite, Honor 70 phone case and a 1-year extended warranty, customers can also own the phone from as low as RM166.60/month with 12 months 0% interest installment when they check out at HIHONOR.com.
