Honor 5C launched with Kirin 650 processor

Huawei’s subsidiary, Honor is looking to warm things up before the launch of the Honor V8 on the 10th of May. The company has launched the successor to the Honor 4C, which was launched this month last year. The Honor 5C is another mid-range device which carries quite a load of specs for its price tag.

For starters, the Honor 5C features a 5.2-inch Full HD IPS LCD display. The handset is powered by Huawei’s homemade octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 650, which obviously is mid-range compared to the likes of the Kirin 950 and Kirin 955 found in the Huawei Mate 8 and Huawei P9 respectively. Running alongside the Kirin 650 SoC is 2GB of RAM and it comes with 16GB of internal storage which is expandable via micro SD.

Looks-wise, the Honor 5C can be compared with another mid-range Honor phone – the Honor 5X. Both devices feature similar metal builds, with a protruding camera with a less-rounded fingerprint sensor below it, followed by the Honor branding. One notable difference is the Honor 5C has the Honor branding on the chin of the front panel as well. The Honor 5C sports a 13MP primary camera with f/2.0 aperture and an 8MP selfie shooter on the front. As mentioned earlier, the handset has a fingerprint sensor and it packs a 3,000mAh underneath the hood.

The Honor 5C will be running Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Huawei’s EMUI 4.1 skinned on top. Extra bonuses include an FM radio receiver and dual-SIM support. Oddly, the device is being sold in 3G and 4G variants, obviously with a price difference as well. The 4G variant of the Honor 5C supports Cat.6 LTE speeds and comes at a price of 999 CNY (RM598.37) while the 3G variant goes cheaper at 899 CNY (RM538.47). We should be expecting the Honor 5C to be arriving to Malaysia, but most probably only the 4G variant. Till then, stay tuned!
