48MP Main Camera
The HONOR 20 is equipped with a Sony IMX586 sensor the latest and the greatest when it comes to smartphone photography; and part of the reason is that it’s made to snap at 48MP resolution.
Measuring at a size of 1/2-inches, the HONOR 20 is essentially equipped with a sensor that can efficiently absorb light, leading to fantastic daytime photography.
With an aperture of f/1.8 one of the lowest in a smartphone the HONOR 20 performs exceptionally well in low-light situations as well. With AI Image Stabilization (AIS) Super Night Mode, night-time photography is a breeze, our snaps consistently produced sharp images with little to no noise.
16MP Super Wide-Angle Camera
An underappreciated advancement in smartphone cameras is the super wide angle lens — the HONOR 20 packs a 16MP shooter that’s capable of covering up to 117-degrees field of view. It’s also supported by distortion correction to avoid subjects that come out warped out of shape. Very handy.
2MP Depth Assist Camera
We all want to be artsy; the quickest way to appear so bokeh effect. What’s more artsy than a portrait image with fancy blur in the background, right? The HONOR 20’s 2MP lens with f/2.4 gives you the ability to do this, without the exaggerated bokeh effect you may find on some smartphones today.
Our test subject here is none other than our very own Yvonne notice that the background blur doesn’t eat up any part of Yvonne’s hair which is a prime area many bokeh lenses tend to do.
2MP Macro Camera
To complete an impressive set of camera lenses on the HONOR 20 is the 2MP macro lens that’s effective at a range of 4cm. Despite her small stature, using Yvonne as the subject here would probably be a bad idea, so we turn to the next smallest critter in the park ants! (there were flowers too, but we reckoned ant photography would be more thrilling)
They may be tiny, but they’re mighty fast and mighty painful should they get on your skin but we managed to snap a couple of macro pictures of these cuties and the results are fantastic. With the f/2.4 aperture, the lens does well to focus on the intended subject while keeping the background out of focus.
It’s safe to say that the HONOR 20 is more than capable of holding its own in the photography department but being a flagship, it needs to perform elsewhere too; and it does, with its Kirin 980 AI chipset couple that with 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage, you’ve got yourself a proper phone.
It’s not a big phone, so you get a decent 3,750mAh battery that supports up to 22.5W HONOR SuperCharge that HONOR claims can juice up your device up to 50 percent in just half an hour. For just RM1,699, the HONOR 20 is a steal.
