Honda Malaysia Unveils All-New W-RV, Anticipates Dominance in Small SUV Market

Honda Malaysia today made a significant mark on the automotive landscape by introducing the all-new Winsome Runabout Vehicle (WR-V), marking their foray into the increasingly popular Small SUV trend. The WR-V, available in four variants, distinguishes Honda Malaysia as the first Japanese mass-market manufacturer to break into the Non-National Small SUV segment.

Hironobu Yoshimura, Honda Malaysia’s Managing Director and CEO, discussed the rising demand for SUV models in the nation, attributing its popularity to their practicality, spaciousness, and comfortable driving experience. He expressed optimism that Honda’s first Small SUV, the all-new WR-V, would further strengthen the company’s presence in the Non-National SUV segment. He particularly noted the appeal the WR-V holds for young professionals and families seeking a Small SUV that offers good value.

“Following its launch, we opened bookings for the all-new WR-V in June 2023. To our delight, it has already garnered attention from Malaysians, receiving over 2,500 bookings in just a month,” said Mr. Yoshimura. He expressed his gratitude to customers and business partners for their unwavering support of the Honda brand and to the Malaysian government for their continuous efforts in developing the automotive sector.

The all-new WR-V has gained an exciting market acceptance thanks to its unique design language, embodying the most desirable features of an SUV in an attractive and fun model. The WR-V RS variant stands out with a Mesh-Style Grille with silver chrome, silver painted Lower Garnish, 17″ Dual-Tone Alloy Wheels, and impressive ground clearance of 207mm.

Further enhancing its exterior appearance are features such as a Trunk Spoiler, Shark Fin Antenna, Auto LED Headlights, LED Daytime Running Lights, LED Front Fog Lights, and Front LED Sequential Turn Signals. As part of the Honda family, the all-new WR-V is packed with innovative features like Power Retractable Door Mirror, Smart Entry with Push Start Button, Remote Engine Start, and Walk Away Auto Lock.

The interior of the WR-V boasts a modern and vibrant aesthetic, optimising cabin space to provide optimal comfort. It features Auto Air Conditioning, Leather Seats, a 7-inch Display Audio with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Connectivity, 6 Speakers, a 4.2-inch TFT Meter Cluster, and Paddle Shift. The WR-V is both practical and spacious, with a generous 380-litre trunk capacity and a 60:40 Split Rear Seat configuration for greater flexibility.

The all-new WR-V is powered by a 1.5L DOHC i-VTEC engine, capable of producing a maximum power output of 121PS and 145Nm of torque. Paired with a Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT) with G-design shift technology, it offers an exceptional driving performance with excellent fuel economy.

Honda has prioritised safety in the all-new WR-V by integrating advanced safety features like Honda LaneWatch, a standard feature in all variants, and Honda SENSING, which includes eight safety functions. The RS variant also comes equipped with Honda CONNECT for additional safety, security, and convenience.

The all-new WR-V is available in five colour options, including the new Stellar Diamond Pearl, along with Platinum White Pearl, Ignite Red Metallic, Meteoroid Gray Metallic, and Crystal Black Pearl. Prices range from RM89,900.00 for the S variant to RM107,900.00 for the top RS variant.
