Group calls now available on Facebook Messenger

Facebook has been looking for ways to earn more bucks and dominate the platform for communications, by providing every service they can within their own means. A couple of years back, Facebook has made it compulsory to install their Messenger app to be able to chat with your Facebook friends on your smartphone. Before that, users can chat with each other through the Facebook app itself, before the eventual separation.

Fast forward to the present, Facebook has now added a feature into Messenger, which allows users to initiate group calls. However, the feature still falls short compared to apps such as Skype and Google Hangouts, as the group calls are only limited to voice calls. Unlike Skype and Hangouts, Messenger does not have group video calling features available just yet. But knowing Facebook, we’ll probably be seeing that in the near future.

Facebook has begun rolling out the update worldwide, so do check the App Store or Play Store if you haven’t had that feature in your Facebook Messenger app. Group calls can include up to 50 people, which is probably more than enough for the average Joe. It won’t be soon before long, when Messenger is capable of making group video calls. Till then, stay tuned!
