GrabShare is now available in Malaysia

Ride-sharing service Grab is introducing yet another type of service in Malaysia as the company has announced that its carpooling service, GrabShare, is now available locally.

Unlike the standard Grab experience, GrabShare pairs two different passenger bookings with similar trip routes within a single trip. The pairing system is done via Grab’s own matching algorithm that calcuates and determines a match by factoring the closest available drivers, travel time, overlap of trip routers, detour distance and current traffic conditions.

One two passengers are paired, the GrabShare driver would proceed to pick them up from their designated locations. The driver would then drop both passengers off at their location which is along the same route. Grab has also made sure that passengers will only experience a maximum of two stops before reaching their destination, ensuring that the passengers will be able to reach their destination as soon as possible.

Passengers who opt to use GrabShare will be able to enjoy fares that are up to 30 percent cheaper than the GrabCar Economy fares. On the other hand, GrabShare drivers that complete two different passenger bookings in one ride will receive higher combined fares with every GrabShare trip.
