Grab Malaysia is currently running a pilot programme for their new Ride Cover insurance offering – upon ordering a ride, you can choose to pay an additional RM0.35 to opt for the insurance, which is provided by Chubb.

Since it’s provided by Chubb, you can expect the same mechanics as when you book a bus ride on Easybook.com. With this, you’re entitled to up to RM100,000 personal accident coverage and “100%” No Delay guarantee – if your order is 15 minutes late, you get a RM5 Grab Ride voucher.

The exact details are this – you get RM2,000 on top of the base coverage; while a maximum of RM100,000 will be awarded for death or permanent disability.

The insurance is only eligible for GrabRide services only – not for GrabBike, GrabShare, or GrabRent. Considering Malaysia has reportedly the third highest death rates from road accidents – it would be wise to opt in for this programme to at least protect yourself financially.
