Grab introduces Grab Daily Insurance (GDI) to driver-partners for as low as RM1/day

The new e-hailing regulations have made it compulsory for Grab driver-partners to follow certain procedures; one of it is the purchase of an e-hailing insurance/takaful. In relation to that, Grab has introduced its own insurance plan called Grab Daily Insurance (GDI) to lessen driver-partners’ burden.

Compared to the usual insurance plan, GDI is more flexible and affordable as it offers daily coverage instead of requiring users to pay an upfront amount for the whole year. Furthermore, this daily insurance/takaful coverage will only be activated when Grab driver-partners go online.

This is cost-saving for Grab driver-partners who are not working every day of the week. They could work three days a week and only pay for three-days insurance fees, meaning on days they’re offline and not working, their driver-partners’ Credit Wallet will not be deducted.

According to Grab, “Daily rates range between RM1 to RM2, depending on driver-partners’ Motor Insurance/Takaful provider as approved by Bank Negara Malaysia.” Moreover, there are 14 insurers and takaful operators that are involved in this insurance plan. All Grab driver-partners just need to opt-in to DGI within the app and if their Motor Insurance/Takaful provider is in the Grab’s list, then they’ll be eligible for GDI.
