Grab has officially launched their GrabPay system in Malaysia

Grab Malaysia has officially launched their GrabPay mobile Wallet. This new system will allow users to use the wallet for services like the Grab app and pay for their bills in stores and restaurants. They have also announced that they are partnering up with local businesses like Maybank, KLIA Express and merchants like Tealive.

Unlike the previous version of GrabPay that only allowed the use of debit and credit cards, the new update will allow users to top-up money to pay for Grab services like GrabFood and rides. Other than that you can also pay merchants using the system if they have a GrabPay QR code in their establishments. Users can also transfer money to another user via the app.

Starting today, GrabPay will be accepted in more than 500 F&B merchants eight cities, Klang Valley, Penang, Johor Bahru, Ipoh, Melaka, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching and Kuantan. Users that use the GrabPay app to pay for their bills will also redeem GrabRewards points which previously was only earnable when you pay for rides.

You can start using the GrabPay service right now from the Grab app. Launch up the Grab app and select the ā€˜Gā€™ icon on the top right, register your details, snap a photo of your IC and you will be all set to venture into the world of cashless payment.
