Today, GoPro has released details about three of the company’s latest products. The first two are part of the Hero line of action cameras, while the other is the long teased Karma drone.
For the Hero action cameras, GoPro will be releasing the Hero5 Black and the Hero5 Black Session on the 2nd of October. For the Hero5 Black, this particular action camera will sport a 2″ touch display, a 12MP camera with RAW support, as well as a built-in GPS. Electronic image stabilization will also be present in the Hero5 Black, and the action camera will also be able to shoot 4K videos at 30 FPS, as well as 1080p videos at 120 FPS.
For those who want something a little cheaper, there is the Hero5 Black Session that is capable of recording 4K videos at 30FPS, as well as producing 10MP pictures. Both cameras are waterproofed right-out-the-box and will support voice commands in seven different languages. Furthermore, the cameras are now cloud-connected, allowing users to auto-upoad photos and videos to an account while their camera is charging. The Hero5 Black will retail for USD399, while the Hero5 Black Session will go for USD299. GoPro will also be offering a GoPro Plus cloud subscription service for USD5 per month.
Next up, we have the long awaited Karma drone. Originally scheduled to launch in the first half of the year, GoPro’s Karma is a sleek, compact and foldable quadcopter that is designed to fit into most backpacks. The drone itself comes with a 3-axis stabilizer that can be slid out from the drone and attached to an included handheld “Karma Grip,” allowing you to record smooth shots on the ground. The Karma is controlled by a controller with a built-in touchscreen. The Karma drone will be available by itself for USD799. GoPro will also be selling the Karma as well as the Hero5 series as a bundle, with the Hero5 Black bundle costing USD1,099, while the Hero5 Black Session bundle will cost USD999.
