Google will release a new Pixel smartphone this year

Last year, Google released the batch of Pixel smartphones, which are widely considered to be one of the best Android-based smartphones available in the market. This year, you can expect a new Pixel iteration from the company as Google’s Senior Vice President of Hardware, Rick Osterloh, has confirmed that there will be a new Pixel this year.

Speaking to an interview with AndroidPIT, Osterloh has said that Google will be creating a follow up to the Pixel this year. While Osterloh did not reveal much details about the upcoming Pixels, he did mention that the Pixels will continue to be premium phones. For those who are hoping that Google would launch a budget version of the Pixel, it appears that those hopes have been dashed.

With the Pixel 2 confirmed to be coming, we fully expect more details about the phones to be leaked over the course of the next few months. Some of the details that we would be looking forward to includes the company that would be tasked with creating the phones, the specifications that comes with it, and perhaps even some details of the supposed Android Oreo.
