Google will discontinue the Pixel-branded laptops

With the Pixel brand now being applied to Google’s new batch of smartphones, it appears that Google is looking to fade out the pre-existing devices that bears the Pixel name, mainly the company’s own Pixel laptop line of premium Chromebooks.

According to a report by TechCrunch, Google’s Senior Vice President for Hardware Rick Osterloh has mentioned that the company will end production of the Pixel laptops after two iterations. As for whether or not Google will be re-entering the laptop market with a new laptop of their own, Osterloh mentioned that the company has no plans to discuss the matter at this point in time.

While the Pixel laptop may be dead for now, Osterloh mentioned that Chrome OS will still be avaialble. “Chrome OS is a huge initiative in the company. We have the number two market share in the U.S. and U.K. – but we have no plans for Google-branded laptops,” says Osterloh.
