Google’s Pixel phones are about to make their debuts in two weeks’ time as the company has announced that it will be hosting an event on the 4th of October.
While Google did not explicitly namedrop the rumoured HTC-created Pixel phones, the video above shows the Google search bar slowly morphing into a smartphone-shaped object, which more or less indicates that the event will be, at the very least, smartphone related. While the reveal of the new Pixel phones is exciting, a source from Android Police has claimed that the phones will be sold at a higher starting price when compared to the Nexus phones that they would be succeeding. If the source is correct, the basic Pixel phone will have a starting pricetag of USD649. For comparison, the Nexus 6P was priced at USD499 at launch.
Alongside the Pixel phones, Google is expected to unveil 4K-capable Chromecast as well as a Daydream VR headset. For those who wish to tune in, the event will happen at 12am on the 5th of October local time.
