Google Pixel Fold: Google’s First Foldable Phone to Debut at Google I/O 2023 Event

Google is set to reveal its first foldable phone, the Pixel Fold, at the upcoming Google I/O 2023 event. While the tech giant has kept mum about the phone’s specifications, a teaser video showcases a full-size outer display that opens up similarly to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold devices.

The back of the phone features a camera bar similar to other Pixel devices but doesn’t protrude as much, it is rumored to have a 5.8-inch screen that folds out into a 7.6-inch tablet, with a Google Tensor G2 processor, a durable hinge, and a weight of 283g.

In addtion, the Pixel Fold  is expected to cost over $1,700 (RM7,546), matching Samsung’s Z Fold 4, which was launched for $1,799.

While most the details remain scarce, it will be interesting to see how Google leads the foldable smartphone market, as the company has already optimized Android 13 for large screen and foldable devices, it will be interesting if it has even taken a page from Samsung’s One UI, considering both Google and Samsung have worked closely together to develop the Z Fold4’s software capabilities.

The Pixel Fold will make its debut on May 10th, which you can sign up for early purchase details here if you are in the US.
