In a move that can be interpreted to mean that Google is abandoning Google+, the company today announced that Hangouts On Air will be jumping ship from Google+ to Youtube Live.
Come the 12th of September, events can no longer be scheduled on Google+, requiring users to shift to YouTube Live instead. This also applies to any events that have been scheduled after the 12th of September. That said, if your events are scheduled to be held before the September 12th deadline, you can proceed with the event as per normal.
Previously recorded events will continue to be available on YouTube. On Google+’s side, the only remaining Google+ link will be the option to view the Activity Log, which is in a read-only format. To help with the transition to YouTube Live, Google has published a guide that would help you get used to Hangouts On Air on YouTube Live.
Hangouts On Air’s shift to YouTube Live is yet another blow to Google+. Just recently, Google has removed the Google+ account requirement to register for services like Google Play Games and YouTube.
