GBoard, Google’s own keyboard for mobile devices, is getting a new beta, and with it, you can now access Google Translate directly through it.
Assuming you’ve gotten the Beta update for GBoards, you’ll now be able to see the Google Translate icon when you tap on the Google button on GBoards. Once you’ve selected the language you wish your text to be translated to, typing into the provided text box will cause the translated version to appear on the selected text field. While the feature in itself is rather handy, do note that the accuracy of the translation is still subjected to Google Translate’s proficiency with the language.
Live translations aside, the GBoard beta will also be introducing a new update to its Themes feature. With the beta, Themes now sports a slide picker that lets you scroll through recently used themes. Additionally, Landscapes are now available in the themes section. These Landscapes can be used as background images for your GBoard.
All of these features will be coming to GBoard in the near future. However, if you wish to access said features right now, you can choose to opt in to the Gboard beta manually.
