Google improves search engine to make searching for medical symptoms easier

Searching for medical symptoms via Google will be made a whole lot easier as the company is improving its search engine to streamline and simplify symptom searches in the coming days.

According to Google, when the improvements gets rolled out, searching for a medical symptom such as “headache on one side” will show you a list of related conditions, ranging from headache to the common cold. Searching for individual symptoms will also give you an overview description along with information on self-treatment options and what might warrant a doctor’s visit.

While the improvement would help you in some case, Google would like to emphasize that the symptom search improvement is intended to be for informational purposes only. At the end of the day, a search engine is no substitute for a licensed physician. The improvement will be available for mobile users in the U.S. to start. Google has stated that they intend to roll out this improvement to other languages and nations, while also expanding upon the service to cover more symptoms.
