COVID-19 leaves Google no choice but to cancel I/O 2020

Another event is now cancelled due to COVID-19. Google has notified the I/O developer conference attendees via email that the event will not happen this year.

Just a few days back, Google made its Cloud Next conference a digital-only conference, but there’s no confirmation whether the same will happen to its I/O conference that’s originally set to take place from May 12 to May 14.

“Due to concerns around the coronavirus (COVID-19), and in accordance with health guidance from the CDC, WHO, and other health authorities, we have decided to cancel the physical Google I/O event at Shoreline Amphitheatre,” said a Google spokesperson.

The Verge also reported that Google will be refunding those who’ve purchased tickets to the show, in addition to giving them the option to purchase next year’s ticket.

I think it’s safe to say that there’ll be more event cancellations in the near future.
