Google Assistant can apparently now read out your WhatsApp messages as well as a list of third party apps as well.

Based on a report by Android Police, Google’s AI assistant could only read out messages from the phone’s native messaging app, meaning on SMS messages would work. It looks like now, WhatsApp, Slack and Telegram are now some of the supported apps to be included.

All you need to do is say “read my messages” and Google Assistant will display a card on your screen with the newest message, along with the name of the sender, from any messaging app and read it out loud for you. To set it up, you’ll need to allow notification access to the app first.

The messages that get read out will be marked as read. You can also reply these messages, so a pretty comprehensive update. Reading and replying won’t work with images and audio messages however, but Google Assistant will let you know of the fact.
