Google Assistant is officially coming to Chromebooks

Looks like the previous rumours were true about Google ditching OK Google in Chromebooks and replacing it with the more advanced Google Assistant. 9to5Google has spotted that the Google Home app now offers information that some Google Assistant apps will work on Chromebooks.

In the Google Home app, there is a section where you can Chat with your Assistant and there is a listing for phones, Google Home, Allo and now, Chromebooks. There is even an icon which represents the Chromebook for those of you that are still septical about the feature coming to the device, which indicates that Google is keen on bringing the assistant to Chromebooks.

It is nice to see the company bringing the support for Google Assistant to many more devices as it is one of the most used voice assistants out there and with the launch of the recently leaked PixelBook, we might be seeing the feature coming to more devices when and if the PixelBook releases. We are hoping to hear about the announcement on October 4th when Google will hold their keynote.
